been the victim of either an error or an injustice. Therefore,

SUBJECT: Application for Correction of Military Records -

Requested Action and Basis for Request. Restore 12.5 days' leave lost at FY98 year-end

balancing due to assignpent and participation with the Thunderbirds.

Facts and Discussion. Applicant had 47.5 days on 1 Oct 97, used 5 days during FY98,

and had 72.5 days on 30 Sep 98. He lost 12.5 days on 1 Oct because under 10 USC 701
members cannot carry more than 60 days into the next FY. He lost 12.5 days due to the
Thunderbirds' strenuous training and performance schedule. His commander states that during
the 1998 season, the applicant was TDY over 200 days during which taking leave was
unfeasible. Further, the 3-month training season involved a syllabus with an intensive flying
schedule that did not provide the applicant with an opportunity to take leave. We support
granting relief because applicant was unable to take leave due to the Thunderbirds'
demonstration and training season schedules.

Recommendation. Restore 12.5 days to current leave account.

Chief, Field Activities Division
