MEMORANDUM FOR THE CHIEF OF STAFF
Under the authority of Section 1552, Title 10, United States Code, Air Force Instruction
36-2603, and having assured compliance with the provisions of the above regulation, the
decision of the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records is announced, and it is
directed that:

NSIDERATION OF APPLICATION BEFORE THE AFBCMR
Having carefully reviewed this application, we agree with the recommendation of the Air Force
and adopt the rationale expressed as the basis for our decision that the applicant has been the victim of
either an error or an injustice. Therefore, under the authority delegated in AFI 36-2603, the applicant's
records will be corrected as set forth in the accompanying Memorandum for the Chief of Staff signed by
the Executive Director of the Board or his designee.

SUBJECT: Application for Correction of Military Record,
1. The requested correction cannot be accomplished
administratively at this headquarters.
2. The applicant is requesting that 13, 14, and 21 January 1997
(6 Inactive Duty Training (IDT) points) be credited to service
year 1997 (Retirement Year Ending (RYE) 28 January 1998), to
avoid a bad service year.
3. The following is an analysis of the circumstances surrounding
the case:
a. The applicant‘s Retention/Retirement (R/R) date is
29 January. This resulted in the 3 referenced dates being
credited to RYE 28 January 1997.

b. The applicant states
was unaware that days prior to
29 January 1997 would not go towards
of the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) managers

4. Recommend this application be approved based on the applicant
was participating in good faith, the request of the applicant's
Commander, and the Commander's statement that new procedures have
been implemented to ensure this type of oversight does not occur
again.
5. If this application is approved, award 5 non-paid IDT points
for RYE 28 January 1998. The applicant's record would then show
12 Active Duty points, 23 IDT points, 0 Extension Course
Institute points and 15 membership points resulting in 50 total
and retirement points and a year of satisfactory Federal service.
6. If this application is disapproved, no further action is
necessary.
