Requested Action and Basis for Request. Restore 7 days charged leave 12 - 18 Jul98.
Applicant states this should
c
be PTDY for house hunting upon arrival at-AF-
Facts and Discussion. Air Force policy authorizes PTDY for house hunting purposes
before signing out of the old station or after signing in at thenew station. Applicant provided
copy of AF Form 988 dated 13 Jul98 and signed by his commander on 22 Jul98 authorizing
PTDY for house hunting. Applicant also submitted a copy of the travel voucher completed on
on 11 Jul98 and
22 Jul98. The travel voucher indicates applicant departed-FL
13 Jul98. It shows he signed in 22 Jul98 and charged leave
arrived
12-1 8 Jul98 after fmance allowed 3 days for travel 19-21 Jul98. In this case, applicant did
his house hunting before signing in at the unit. Therefore, finance charged 7 days leave
12-1 8 Jul98. However, we support granting relief because the commander would have
authorized the PTDY if the applicant had sign in at Id& unit immediately upon arrival at
Langley AFB VA.

Restore 2 days charged leave for 25-26 Mar 98. When she reported in at the military personnel flight, finance allowed 3 days travel time 27 - 29 Mar 98 and charged 2 days leave, 25- 26 Mar 98. In this case, we support granting relief because the Air Force should not penalize the applicant for erroneous information received at the orderly room.
