SUBJECT: Application for Correction of Military Record,
1. The requested correction cannot be accomplished administratively
at this headquarters.
2. The applicant is requesting 4 Inactive Duty Training (IDT) points
be credited to make Retirement Year Ending (RYE) 21 August 1996, a
year of satisfactory Federal service. The applicant is a l s o
requesting a waiver for fiscal year 1996 requirements as an Individual
Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) .
3 . The following is an analysis of the circumstances surrounding this
case:
a. Member began
on 22 August 1985.
career in the United States Air Force (USAF)
b. Records indicate applicant was appointed to the United States
Air Force Reserve (USAFR) on 2 October 1994, and erroneously given
this date as
Retention/Retirement (R/R) date.
c. An Audit of
record by HQ ARPC/DPKB on 24 October 1996,
found this error and corrected R/R to 22 August 1985. This is the
correct R/R as member has not had a break in service. Changing the
R/R shortened the time member could participate resulting in an
unsatisfactory year for RYE 21 August 1996.
4 . Waivers for fiscal year participation are approved through the
MAJCOM program manager. Member may apply for FY96 participation
waiver by calling HQ AIA/RE at 1-800-531-1055, point of contact is
MSgt Parker.
5. We recommend this application be approved since member was
participating in good faith.

97-02609 AIR FORCE EVALUATION: The Director of Personnel Program Management, ARPC/DPKB, reviewed the application and states that after several conversations with 419 MSS/DPMP, it was discovered that before a member is assigned to the unit they are briefed on the R/R year requirements and the points requirement as well as satisfactory service requirement. After reviewing the evidence of record, we believe the possibility exists that applicant was not fully aware of the requirements...
