		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE: 17 October 2013

		DOCKET NUMBER: AR20130002726

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests the Valorous Unit Award be added to his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2. The applicant states the Valorous Unit Award was authorized after he was discharged.

3. The applicant provides copies of his DD Form 214 and Department of the Army Permanent Order 002-07 which awarded the Valorous Unit Award to various units, including the 576th Engineer Company.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant was commissioned in the Regular Army on 26 May 2007. He was honorably discharged as a captain on 9 September 2012.

2. Officer evaluation reports (OERs) show he was assigned to the 576th Engineer Company from January 2009 to April 2010.

3. Army Permanent Order 002-07, dated 2 January 2013, awarded the Valorous Unit Award to the 4th Engineer Battalion and attached units, including the 576th Engineer Company, for extraordinary heroism in action during the period 1 May 2009 to 10 February 2010.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
