IN THE CASE OF:
BOARD DATE: 10 March 2011
DOCKET NUMBER: AR20100023855
THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:
1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).
2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests five orders concerning the award of his Army Good Conduct Medals be removed from his official military personnel file (OMPF).
2. The applicant states incorrect dates were used in orders for his Army Good Conduct Medals. These orders were revoked and correct orders were issued. The incorrect orders were due to administrative errors by his command.
3. The applicant provides five orders concerning his awards of the Army Good Conduct Medal.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 7 July 2004 for a period of 5 years. He reenlisted on 9 December 2008 and continues to serve in the Regular Army.
2. His OMPF contains the following orders issued by Headquarters, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), U.S. Army Special Forces Command, Fort Bragg, NC:
* Orders Number 253-03, dated 10 September 2010, for his first award of the Army Good Conduct Medal for the period 7 April 2004 to 6 April 2007

4. Army Regulation 600-8-104 (Military Personnel Information Management/
Records), Table 2-1 (Composition of the OMPF), provides that award orders are filed in the commendatory and disciplinary portion of the OMPF. This regulation also provides that once filed, such documents become a permanent part of the OMPF and may only be removed by one of several agencies, one of which is the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR).
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. Corrected orders were issued for the applicant's first and second awards of the Army Good Conduct Medal.
2. The erroneous orders and the revocations of those orders were the result of administrative errors. These orders hold no historical value in documenting the applicant's military career. Therefore, it would be appropriate to remove these orders and the revocations from the applicant's OMPF.
