The Board considered the following evidence:

Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.

Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion, if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests that his dates of service in Qatar be shown on his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2. The applicant states that he served in Qatar from approximately May 2004 to May 2005 and that he received imminent danger pay.

3. The applicant provides a copy of his DD Form 214 and travel orders.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant enlisted on 29 July 2003, served as a power generation equipment repairer, and was honorably discharged by reason of disability with severance pay on 1 August 2005.

2 Item 12f (Record of Service/Foreign Service) on the applicant's DD Form 214 shows the entry, "0000 00 00.” Item 18 (Remarks) on his DD Form 214 does not show any deployments. His DD Form 214 shows the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Marksman Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar as authorized awards.

3. In support of his claim, the applicant provided travel orders which show he would travel from Fort Drum, New York on or about 10 May 2004 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom until 31 May 2005.

4. Records at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service show he served in Kuwait from 20 May 2004 to 8 June 2004.

5. There is no evidence of record which shows the applicant served in Qatar.

6. Army Regulation 635-5 establishes the standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. The regulation states, in pertinent part, that the total amount of foreign service completed during the period covered by the DD Form 214 will be entered in item 12f. The regulation also states, in pertinent part, that the country and dates of deployment for an active duty Soldier deployed with his or her unit during their continuous period of active service will be shown in item 18 on the DD Form 214.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

The evidence of record does not support the applicantÂ’s contention that he served in Qatar from approximately May 2004 to May 2005. Evidence of record shows he served in Kuwait from 20 May 2004 to 8 June 2004. Since the applicant provided no evidence of record which shows he served in Qatar and he does not request any other correction, there is an insufficient basis for granting his request at this time.

BOARD VOTE:

________ ________ ________ GRANT FULL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT PARTIAL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT FORMAL HEARING

JI_____ ___SP___ ____QS__ DENY APPLICATION

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The evidence presented does not demonstrate the existence of a probable error or injustice. Therefore, the Board determined that the overall merits of this case are insufficient as a basis for correction of the records of the individual concerned.
