Q6T 2 2 1997
HEARING DESIRED: NO
Applicant requests that his DD Form 214 be corrected to reflect
award of the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and the Air
Force Longevity Service Award. His request for award of the Air
Force Outstanding Unit Award w / T " and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Palm and the Vietnam
Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars was adrninistrativelv
corrected by HQ AFPC/DPPRSO.
Applicant's submission is at
Exhibit A.
1
The appropriate Air Force office evaluated applicant's request
and provided an advisory opinion to the Board recommending the
application be denied (Exhibit C). The advisory opinion was
forwarded to the applicant for review and response (Exhibit D).
As of this date, no response has been received by this office.
After careful consideration of applicant's request and the
available evidence of record, we find insufficient evidence of
error or injustice to warrant corrective action. The facts and
opinions stated in the advisory opinion appear to be based on the
evidence of record and have not been rebutted by applicant.
Absent persuasive evidence applicant was denied rights to which
entitled, appropriate regulations were not followed, or
appropriate standards were not applied, we find no basis to
disturb the existing record.
Accordingly, applicant's request is denied.
The Board staff is directed to inform applicant of this decision.
Applicant should also be informed that this decision is final and
will only be reconsidered upon the presentation of new relevant
evidence which was not reasonably available at the time the
application was filed.
Members of the Board Mr. Wayne R. Gracie, Mr. Michael P. Higgins,
and Mr. Kenneth L. Reinertson considered, this application on
30 September 1997 in accordance with the provisions of Air Force
Instruction 36-2603, and the governing statute, 10, U.S.C. 1552.

FACTS.
c
a. Applicant believes he is entitled to the following awards and decorations which are not

(1) Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/”V” and 1 Oak Leaf Cluster.
(2) Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Palm.
(3) Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
(4) Vietnam Service Medal should have “w/3 Bronze Service Stars.”
(5) Air Force Longevity Service Award.
b. Applicant was assigned to the 366* Security Police Squadron in Vietnam 4 Mar 69-6
Apr 70. While he was assigned to this unit, it earned the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with

c. Since the applicant was not on Active Duty for four years, he is not entitled to the Air
Force Longevity Service Award. There is no documentation in his records, and the applicant did
not furnish any, to substantiate his claim regarding the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Rib-
bon.
4. DISCUSSION. The applicant’s records were forwarded to the appropriate office to have
those awards and decorations to which he is entitled added to his DD Form 214. He is not eligi-
ble for the Air Force Longevity Service Award, and we can not verify his eligibility for the Small
Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
5. RECOMMENDATION.
We recommend disapproval of the applicant’s request for the Air Force Longevity Service
Award and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon to be added to his DD Form 214.
