THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:
1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).
2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show his award of the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM).
2. The applicant states he has the medal and certificate.
3. The applicant provides copies of his DD Form 214, ARCOM Certificate with order number, and a VA Form 21-22 (Department of Veteran Affairs Designation as Claimant's Representative) for VA matters.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 6 August 2008.
2. His Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS) record contains an ARCOM Certificate that shows the applicant was awarded the ARCOM by Permanent Order Number 194-081 issued by Headquarters, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team dated 13 July 2010.for meritorious service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom for the period 20 November 2009 to 31 August 2010.
3. The applicant was honorably released from active duty on 3 February 2012. His DD Form 214 shows he was awarded or authorized the:
* Iraq Campaign Medal with two bronze service stars
* National Defense Service Medal
* Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
* Army Service Ribbon
* Overseas Service Ribbon
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
His iPERMS record contains an ARCOM Certificate that provides the order number. Therefore, his DD Form 214 should be corrected to show his award of the ARCOM.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:
The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by adding to his DD Form 214 the ARCOM.
