                            RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS

      IN THE CASE OF:

      BOARD DATE: 27 September 2007
      DOCKET NUMBER: AR20070005253

I certify that hereinafter is recorded the true and complete record
of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in
the case of the above-named individual.

| |Ms. Catherine C. Mitrano | |Director |
| |Mrs. Nancy L. Amos | |Analyst |

The following members, a quorum, were present:

| |Mr. Richard T. Dunbar | |Chairperson |
| |Mr. Chester A. Damian | |Member |
| |Mr. Edward E. Montgomery | |Member |

The Board considered the following evidence:

Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.

Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion,
if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests that his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or
Discharge) be amended to add the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Combat
Action Badge.

2. The applicant states that the Army Good Conduct Medal and the Combat
Action Badge were awarded after he was discharged.

3. The applicant provides his DD Form 214; Army Commendation Medal
orders/certificate; an email, dated 15 June 2006; a memorandum for record,
dated 2 June 2006; an undated statement; deployment orders; Army Good
Conduct Medal orders; his Enlisted Record Brief; and three pages of his DA
Form 2-1 (Personnel Qualification Record).

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requested the Combat Action Badge. The email, the
memorandum for record, the undated statement, and the deployment orders
provided by the applicant were forwarded to the Awards Branch, U. S. Army
Human Resources Command, for action. The Awards Branch indicated that it
will reply directly to the applicant when its decision has been made. If
the Awards Branch awards the applicant the Combat Action Badge, he may then
apply to this Board to add it to his DD Form 214. If the Awards Branch
requests additional supporting evidence from the applicant, he must respond
directly to the Awards Branch. If the Awards Branch disapproves award of
the Combat Action Badge, he may apply to this Board for award of the Badge.
This portion of his request will not be addressed further in this Record
of Proceedings.

2. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 17 September 2001. He
completed basic training and advanced individual training and was awarded
military occupational specialty 92G (Food Service Specialist).

3. 82d Paratrooper Support Battalion, 82d Airborne Division, Permanent
Order 230-04, dated 17 August 2004, awarded the applicant the Army Good
Conduct Medal for the period 17 September 2001 to 16 September 2004.

4. Headquarters, 82d Airborne Division Permanent Orders 237-40, dated
24 August 2004, awarded the applicant the Army Commendation Medal.

5. On 16 September 2004, the applicant was honorably released from active
duty. His DD Form 214 shows he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal (2d
Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army
Service Ribbon, and the Parachutist Badge.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

The applicant provided orders to show he was awarded the Army Good Conduct
Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. These awards should be added to his
DD Form 214.

BOARD VOTE:
