      DOCKET NUMBER: AR20040003549

I certify that hereinafter is recorded the true and complete record
of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in
the case of the above-named individual.

| |Mr. Carl W. S. Chun | |Director |
| |Ms. Maria C. Sanchez | |Analyst |

The following members, a quorum, were present:

| |Mr. Melvin H. Meyer | |Chairperson |
| |Mr. Thomas E. O'Shaughnessy, Jr. | |Member |
| |Ms. Eloise C. Prendergast | |Member |

The applicant and counsel if any, did not appear before the Board.

The Board considered the following evidence:

Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.

Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion,
if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests, in effect, that her enlistment contract be
corrected to show that she enlisted for 8 years and 00 weeks instead of 6
years and 00 weeks.

2. The applicant states, in effect, that her enlistment contract
erroneously shows that she enlisted in the Army for 6 years.

3. The applicant provides in support of her application a Memorandum for
Record (MFR) from the U.S. Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), dated 21 June
2004; a Statement of Understanding, dated 21 June 2004; a copy of DD Form
4/1 (Enlistment/Reenlistment Document); and a copy of pages 1 and 2 of her
Enlistment Reservation Data.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. On 1 May 2003, the applicant enlisted in the United States Army
Reserve. The applicant's enlistment contract (DD Form 4/1) shows the she
enlisted for a period of 6 years and 00 weeks.

2. Page 1 of the applicant's Enlistment Reservation Data shows her term of
service as 6 years and 00 weeks.

3. Page 2 of the applicant's Enlistment Reservation Data, under Enlistment
Category and Reservation Information, shows her term of service at 72
months.

4. The MFR from USAREC, dated 21 June 2004, confirms that the enlistment
contract is incorrect and that the term of her enlistment should be
corrected to show the term of enlistment as 8 years and 00 weeks.

5. The applicant submitted a Statement of Understanding, which states that
she understood the available options under her enlistment and applied to
the Army Board for Correction of Military Records to correct her enlistment
contract. The applicant also stated that she submitted the application
under no coercion and for her benefit.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1. The applicant contends that her term of service on her enlistment
contract is incorrect.

2. An error was made during the preparation of the applicant's enlistment
contract, which resulted in an incorrect term of service being shown on her
DD Form 4/1 and the Enlistment Reservation Data.

3. The applicant's enlistment contract (DD Form 4/1 and Enlistment
Reservation Data) erroneously shows her term of enlistment as 6 years and
00 weeks. The MFR from USAREC, dated 21 June 2004, confirms that the
enlistment contract is incorrect and should be corrected to reflect her
term of service as 8 years and 00 weeks.

4. The applicant clearly enlisted in the Army Reserve for 8 years and 00
weeks. In the interest of justice, her enlistment contract should be
amended accordingly.

BOARD VOTE:

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant
a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all
Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by
amending the enlistment contract (DD Form 4/1) and the Enlistment
Reservation Data of the individual concerned to show that she enlisted in
the Army Reserve for 8 years and 00 weeks instead of 6 years and 00 weeks
as currently reflected.
