2. The applicant requests that the orders awarding him the Parachute Badge be removed from his Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). In support of his application the applicant submits fax copies of his DA Form 2-1, Personnel Qualification Record, a fax copy of his Enlisted Records Brief, and a fax copy of his Assignment History sheet.
3. The applicant states in effect, that the orders for the award of the Parachute Badge filed in his OMPF are in error. He states that he has not attended or completed any airborne training.
4. The applicant’s military records show that he entered active duty on 5 May
1993. He completed basic combat training and advanced individual training and was awarded military occupational specialty 75B10 (personnel administrative specialist). His service has been continuous through extensions and reenlistments.
5. Permanent Orders 058-209, dated 27 February 1995 from Headquarters, United States Army Infantry Center, Fort Benning, Georgia, filed in the applicant’s OMPF shows the award of the Parachutist Badge.
6. The Enlisted Records Brief, section E (Awards and Decorations) does not show the award of the Parachutist Badge. Section F (Military Education) does not show completion of airborne training.
7. The DA Form 2-1 item 9 (Awards, Decorations and Campaigns) does not show the Parachutist Badge as an authorized award nor does item 17 (Civilian Education and Military Schools) show that the applicant attended or completed airborne training.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. The Board agrees with the applicant’s contentions that he did not attend or complete airborne training. Therefore, Permanent Orders 058-209, dated
27 February 1995, issued by Headquarters, United States Army Infantry Center, Fort Benning, Georgia, should be revoked and removed from his OMPF.
2. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION:
That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by revoking and removing from the applicant’s OMPF the orders that show the award of the Parachutist Badge.
