The Board considered the applicant's request that his dates of service in Korea from 1960 to 1961 be shown on his DD Form 214.

His DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge) does not reflect award of the Good Conduct Medal. The Board also notes that in spite of board action recommending reclassification for inefficiency there is no evidence the applicant was ever reassigned from his supply duties or reclassified. There is no evidence, and the applicant has not provided any, that his reduction to pay grade E-2 while in the USAR was in error or unjust.

The applicant requests correction of his records to show the medals and certificates to which he is entitled such as the “Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Cold War Certificate, etc.” However, the applicant has presented no evidence that other soldiers in his unit received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and he was denied that service medal. Evidence of record shows the applicant served in Korea from 14 December 1960 through 30 August 1962. Since he did not have an active Army status on or after 1 August 1981, he is not eligible for retroactive award of the Overseas Service Ribbon for his service Korea. That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by showing the individual concerned was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

During the applicant’s period of military service the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal was not authorized for service in Germany. His DA Form 137 tends to support a conclusion that there is no evidence available which would serve as a basis to deny him an award of the Army Good Conduct Medal. The Board can confirm the applicant was authorized travel to see medical personnel early in 1959 and subsequent to his release from active duty.

The applicant states that the last two digits of his SSAN should be "43" and not "34" as reflected on his DD Form 214. The is no evidence in the applicant's records to show that he was a tank driver (MOS 131.60). That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by issuing to the individual concerned a DD Form 215 (Correction to DD Form 214) to show in Item 32 on his DD Form 214 of 13 February 1961 that his correct SSAN is "XXX-XX-XX43."
