                            RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
AIR FORCE BOARD FOR CORRECTION OF MILITARY RECORDS

IN THE MATTER OF: DOCKET NUMBER: 00-02348
            INDEX CODE: 100.03

            COUNSEL: NONE

            HEARING DESIRED: YES

___________________________________________________________________

APPLICANT REQUESTS THAT:

His Reenlistment Eligibility (RE) code be changed from a 2C to 1.

___________________________________________________________________

THE APPLICANT CONTENDS:

The reasons the applicant believes the records to be in error or unjust and
the evidence submitted in support of the appeal are at Exhibit A.

___________________________________________________________________

STATEMENT OF FACTS:

The relevant facts pertaining to this application, extracted from the
applicant's military records, are contained in the letter prepared by the
appropriate office of the Air Force. Accordingly, there is no need to
recite these facts in this Record of Proceedings.

___________________________________________________________________

AIR FORCE EVALUATION:

HQ AFPC/DPPRS reviewed this application and recommended denial. A complete
copy of the evaluation is at Exhibit C.
___________________________________________________________________

APPLICANT’S REVIEW OF AIR FORCE EVALUATION:

The applicant reviewed the Air Force evaluation and furnished a response
that is at Exhibit E.
___________________________________________________________________

THE BOARD CONCLUDES THAT:

1. The applicant has exhausted all remedies provided by existing law or
regulations.

2. The application was timely filed.

3. Sufficient relevant evidence has been presented to demonstrate the
existence of probable error or injustice. We took note that the applicant
failed to meet the M-16 qualification score for continuance in the Security
Police career field. However, his Armed Service Vocational Aptitude
Battery (ASVAB) test scores suggest he would be suited for other positions
within the Air Force. The applicant has expressed a desire to reenlist
into the Air Force and we believe he should be given the opportunity to
apply for enlistment. Therefore, we recommend the applicant's records be
corrected to the extent indicated below.

THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT:

The pertinent military records of the Department of the Air Force relating
to APPLICANT be corrected to show that on 27 June 2000 he was separated
with an uncharacterized entry level separation under the provisions of AFI
36-3208, paragraph 1.2 (Secretarial Authority) with a separation code of
JFK and a reenlistment eligibility (RE) code of 3K.
