THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1.  Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2.  Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).


THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests correction the military occupational specialty (MOS) and military education listings on his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2.  The applicant states he held three MOSs that should be listed in item 11 and completed several training courses that should be listed in item 14

3.  The applicant provides copies of three DA Form(s) 1059 (Service School Academic Evaluation Report(s) and three course diplomas.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  On 15 May 1998 the applicant enlisted in the Regular Army and served until 19 December 2012, a period of 14 years, 7 months, and 5 days.

The applicant's Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System  (iPERMS) contain:

   a.  Enlisted Record Brief (ERB) showing he served in MOS – 

* 63T, Track Vehicle Mechanic from 1 November 1998 to 10 September 2000; a period of 1 year, and 10 months
* 15 R, Attack Helicopter Repairer from 11 September 2000 to 9 July 2008; a period of 7 years, and 10 months 
* 88 H, Cargo Specialist from 10 July 2008 to 19 December 2012; a period of 4 years, and 6 months

	b.  DA Form(s) 1059 (Service School Academic Evaluation Reports (AERs)) showing he completed – 

* a 17 week AH-64A Attack Helicopter Repairer in January 2001
* 4 week Platoon Leader Course in 2002
* a 5 week AH64D Attack Helicopter Repairer course in November in 2007
* a 7 week Cargo Specialist (MOS 88H1O) course in May 2009

2. His DD Form 214 shows:

	a.  In item 11 (Primary Specialty) – he served in MOS 88H1O Cargo Specialist for 14 years. 

	b.  Item 14 (Military Education) – he completed an 8-week Cargo Specialist Course in 2009, a one week Combat Life Savers Course in 2005, and a 4-week Warrior Leaders Course in 2002.

4.  The applicant submitted copies of AERs and certificates for the – 

* Bradley Fighting Vehicle Mechanic Course, 12 weeks in 1998
* AH-64A Attack Helicopter Repairer Course, 17 weeks in January 2001
* AH64D Attack Helicopter Repairer Course, 5 weeks in November in 2007

5.  Army Regulation 635-8 (Separation Processing and Documents) currently in effect, prescribes the separation documents that must be prepared for Soldiers on retirement or separation.  It also established standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214.  It states the source documents for entering information on the DD Form 214 will be the enlistment documents, enlisted qualification record, separation documents, or any other document authorized for filing in the official records.

a.  It states for item 11 (Primary Specialty) Enter the titles of all MOSs or areas of concentration (AOCs) awarded and held for at least 1 year during the current period of service and include for each MOS/AOC the number of years and months held. For time determinations, 16 or more days counts as a month. Do not count time in training (basic training, advanced individual training)

b.  It states for item 14 (Military Education) list all formal, in-service (full time attendance) training courses successfully completed during the period of service covered by the DD Form 214 of at least 1 week or 40 hours duration.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1.  The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 to show all his MOSs and military education courses.

2.  Item 11 (Primary Specialty) should be corrected to show:

* 88 H, Cargo Specialist–4 years, 6 months
* 15 R, Attack Helicopter Repairer–7 years, 10 months 
* 63T, Track Vehicle Mechanic–1 year, 10 months

3.  Adding to the courses currently shown in item 14 (Military Education) – 

* Bradley Fighting Vehicle  Mechanic Course, 12 weeks in 1998
* AH-64A Attack Helicopter Repairer Course, 17 weeks in January 2001
* AH64D Attack Helicopter Repairer Course , 5 weeks in November 2007

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief.  As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by

	a.  deleting the current entry in item 11 and entering – 

* 88 H, Cargo Specialist–4 years, 6 months
* 15 R, Attack Helicopter Repairer–7 years, 10 months 
* 63T, Track Vehicle Mechanic–1 year, 10 months

	b.  adding to the courses currently shown in item 14 – 

* Bradley Fighting Vehicle Mechanic, 12 weeks, 1998
* Attack Helicopter Repair, 17 weeks, January 2001
* Attack Helicopter Repair, 5 weeks, November, 2007
