	The Board considered the following evidence:

	Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.

	Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion, if any).


THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests that his records be corrected to show award of the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.

2.  The applicant states, in effect, that he received the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge which are not shown on his separation document.  

3.  The applicant provided copies of his DD Form 214, dated 11 March 1998;
DD Form 214, dated 28 May 2006; a narrative summary outlining his military career; three news articles; an award certificate; and Permanent Orders Number 205-082 in support of this application. 

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant is requesting correction of an alleged error or injustice which occurred on 28 May 2006, the date of his discharge.  The application submitted in this case is dated 22 January 2007.

2.  The applicant's records show that he had prior honorable service during the period 15 August 1996 through 11 March 1998 in military occupational specialty (MOS) 63S (Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic).  The applicant was released from active duty on 11 March 1998.  On 10 February 2005 the applicant was ordered to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in MOS 21B (Combat Engineer).

3.  The applicant was honorably released from active duty on 28 May 2006 upon completion of his required active service.

4.  The applicantÂ’s 28 May 2006 DD Form 214 shows he served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom during the period 23 April 2005 through 26 April 2006.

5.  Item 13 (Decoration, Medals, Badges, Commendations, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized) of the applicant's 28 May 2006
DD Form 214 does not show award of the Bronze Star Medal or the Combat Action Badge.

6.  Headquarters, Combined Joint Task Force 76 Orders Number 121-006, dated 1 May 2006, awarded the applicant the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service during the period 22 February 2005 through 22 February 2006. 
7.  Headquarters, Combined/Joint Task Force 76, Permanent Orders Number 205-082 dated 24 July 2006 awarded the applicant the Combat Action Badge for service on 22 February 2006. 

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1.  Orders show the applicant was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.  Therefore, he is entitled to correction of his records to show this award.

2.  Orders show the applicant was awarded Combat Action Badge.  Therefore he is entitled to correction of his record to show this badge

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief.  As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by showing award of the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.
