2. The applicant requests that the entry “ORDERED TO ACDUTRA” (ordered to active duty for training) be deleted from item 17 of his separation document.
3. The applicant states that he does not qualify for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical care because of the contested statement. He contends that he was a member of the Army National Guard (ARNG) and then went on active duty for 1 year, 7 months and 10 days, with service in Germany.
4. The applicant’s military records show that he enlisted in the ARNG on 23 October 1965. He completed his initial entry training and was awarded the military occupational specialty (MOS) of light weapons infantryman. He was promoted to pay grade E-2.
5. On 13 September 1968, orders were published ordering the applicant to 19 months and 16 days of active duty. Those orders cited Public Law 89-687 and Army Regulation 135-91 as their authority.
6. The applicant was awarded the MOS of combat engineer and was promoted to pay grade E-4. He was honorably released from active duty at the expiration of his term of service on 26 May 1970.
7. Public Law 89-687, the military’s Fiscal Year 1967 appropriations bill, included a provision which allowed the President of the United States to call up (mobilize) selected reserve-component units for up to 24 months in support of the Vietnam War.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. It is evident that the applicant was not ordered to active duty for training. He was ordered to active duty in support of the Vietnam War.
2. As such, it is apparent that an error was made by entering “ORDERED TO ACDUTRA” in item 17 of his separation document.
3. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION:
That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by deleting the entry “ORDERED TO ACDUTRA” in item 17 of his separation document.

Records available to the Board indicate that the applicant enlisted in the United States Army Reserve for a period of 6 years on 7 May 1964. Although the applicant was in fact a member of the United States Army Reserve at the time he was ordered to active duty in 1968, he was not ordered to active duty for training purposes as his 1969 separation document indicates. While the evidence does not indicate that the applicant was integrated into the Regular Army when he was order to active...

His activation orders, issued by the XX United States Army Corps, specifically state that he was being ordered to active duty for the purpose of training (ACDUTRA). Again the orders specifically state the applicant was being ordered to active duty for the purpose of training. It is clear, based on the various documents which ordered the applicant to active duty, that his final period of active service, 28 September 1968 through 27 April 1969, was not for the purpose of training but rather...

The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Report of Transfer or Discharge) for the period ending 3 February 1970 to show he served in the Regular Army and not the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) and that he was not on active duty for training. There is no evidence of record and the applicant did not provide any evidence that he ever enlisted in the Regular Army. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by...

The Report of Separation and Record of Service (NGB Form 22) that he was furnished at the time of his discharge from the AZARNG shows that he was discharged for the purpose of being ordered to active duty under the provisions of Public Law 89-687 and Department of the Army Circular 135-10. The evidence of record shows that he was ordered to active duty by direction of the President and his DD Form 214 should be amended to reflect the appropriate information. RECOMMENDATION : That all of...

APPLICANT REQUESTS: That his DD Form 214, Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge, be corrected to show his 211 days of active duty and 5 plus years of service in the Army National Guard (ARNG). The DD Form 214 he was issued shows that he completed 6 months of active duty during that period and had 3 months and 1 day of prior inactive (ARNG not on active duty) service. All the evidence of record shows that the applicant’s DD Form 214 is correct, that he served 6...

The applicant's military service records contain a DD Form 214, with an effective date of 20 October 1969. The applicant contends, in effect, that his DD Form 214, with an effective date of 20 October 1969, should be corrected to show he was ordered to active duty rather than ordered to active duty for training. However, the evidence of record shows that this service is not accurately recorded on the applicant's DD Form 214, with an effective date of 20 October 1969.

The applicant requests correction of military records as stated in the application to the Board and as restated herein. The applicant submitted a copy of his DD Form 214, his discharge orders from the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) and his Honorable Discharge Certificate. The regulation directed that individuals who were ordered to active duty or called to active duty from Reserve Component, the entry "other" would be checked and the appropriate entry; "Ordered from ARNGUS or USAR", "Called from...

Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). The applicant states his DD Form 214 shows he was ordered to active duty for training (ACDUTRA) on 4 September 1968. The applicant contends that item 17 of his DD Form 214 should be corrected because he was ordered to active duty and not "Ordered to ACDUTRA."
ARMY | BCMR | CY2005 | 20050004382C070206
The evidence of record also shows that the applicant was issued a DD Form 214 by the U.S. Army, with an effective date of 18 April 1959, which officially documents this ACDUTRA. Therefore, the applicant's state Army National Guard Records and the applicant’s Department of the Army records should be corrected to show he completed his six months of active duty for training from 19 October 1958 through 18 April 1959. As a result, the Board recommends that the state Army National Guard records...

The applicant's military service records contain a DD Form 214, with an effective date of 9 September 1962. The applicant's military service records contain a DD Form 4, dated 26 November 1962.
