2. The applicant requests, in effect, correction of his military records to show that he enlisted for a term of 3 years.

3. `The applicant enlisted in the Army Reserve on 17 August 1994. His DD Form 4/1 shows that he agreed to serve on active duty for 3 years. He enlisted in the Regular Army on 1 November 1994. His Form 4/3 shows that he enlisted for 3 years and 22 weeks. He reenlisted on 30 September 1997.

4. In an advisory opinion to the Board, the Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM) advised that the DD Form 4/3 incorrectly shows enlistment for 3 years and 22 weeks. PERSCOM recommended approval of the applicant’s request to show that he enlisted for 3 years.

CONCLUSIONS:

1. Based on the evidence of record, it appears that it was the applicant’s intent to enlist in the Regular Army for a period of 3 years. However, an error was made at the time of his enlistment.

2. In view of the foregoing, it would be appropriate and just to correct the applicant’s records as recommended below.

RECOMMENDATION:

That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by amending the DD Form 4/3 to show that he enlisted for 3 years.

BOARD VOTE:
