APPLICANT REQUESTS: That his DD Form 214, Report of Transfer or Discharge, be corrected to show that he served in clandestine operations in Cambodia.
APPLICANT STATES: That the nature of his duties placed him on missions that were kept secret and now there is no evidence to prove that he performed such duty. He contends that he needs to obtain records of his duties in order to pursue claims with the VA.
EVIDENCE OF RECORD: The applicant's military records show:
He enlisted in the Regular Army for 2 years on 19 September 1967 and was honorably discharged on 31 August 1969. During this period of enlistment he served 1 year, 6 months and 22 days in Germany. His next enlistment was from 8 November 1973 to 7 November 1975. The record does not show that he performed any overseas duty during this enlistment.
The applicants records do not show that he ever served in Cambodia, or elsewhere in Southeast Asia, in either a permanent or temporary duty basis during either of his periods of service
DISCUSSION: Considering all the evidence, allegations, and information presented by the applicant, together with the evidence of record, applicable law and regulations, it is concluded:
1. There is no documentary evidence available to substantiate his claim of service in Cambodia.
2. In order to justify correction of a military record the applicant must show to the satisfaction of the Board, or it must otherwise satisfactorily appear, that the record is in error or unjust. The applicant has failed to submit evidence that would satisfy this requirement.
3. In view of the foregoing, there appears to be no basis for granting the applicants request.
DETERMINATION: The applicant has failed to submit sufficient relevant evidence to demonstrate the existence of probable error or injustice.
