This is in reference to your Application for Correction of
Military Records, DD Form 149, dated 30 January 2012, in which
you requested your record be corrected to reflect that you were
honorable discharged on 30 June 1975, while serving as a lance
corporal in paygrade E-3.
Following a preliminary review of your record, it was noted that
on 30 June 1973, while serving as private first class/E-2, you
were temporarily retired and placed on the Temporary Disability
Retired List (TDRL) pending discharge. At that time you were
issued a Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD
Form 214) which reflected the foregoing information.
Your record contains a letter from the Marine Corps Finance
Center, Kansas City, MO dated 14 March 1974, which reflects that
the Commandant of the Marine Corps (MMSR) was advised of your
promotion to lance corporal/E-3. Your record also contains a
letter addressed to you from the Commandant of the Marine Corps
(MMSR-4/5-cnw) dated 20 June 1975, which reflects that effective
30 June 1975, while serving as lance corporal/E-3, you were
honorably discharged by reason of Physical Disability with
Severance Pay. This letter also reflects that you were issued a
statement of service, a discharge certificate, and a discharge
button.
In accordance with the foregoing, you may wish to contact
Headquarters, United States Marine Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff
for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA) Department, Separation
Section (MMSR-3), 3280 Russell Road, Quantico, VA 22134-5103 to
request copies of the aforementioned documents, or you may obtain
a copy of your naval record by submitting the enclosed Request
Pertaining to Military Records, SF 180, to National Personnel
Records Center (Military Personnel Records), 9700 Page Boulevard,
St. Louis MO 63132.
As a result of the foregoing, no action is required by this Board
at this time. Accordingly, your case is hereby administratively
closed without action.
