SECTION A-ANALYST’S ASSESSMENT
l.  Facts and Circumstances:

	a.  The record contains a properly constituted DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).  His DD Form 214 indicates that he was discharged from Regular Army under the provisions of Chapter 4, AR 635-200 by reason of expiration term of service, with a characterization of service of honorable.  

	b.  On 2 January 1993, the applicant was discharged.  At the time of discharge, the applicant had completed 5 years, 4 months, and 1 day of active military service in the period under review.  

2.  Legal/Regulatory Basis for Separation Action:  Army Regulation 635-200, in effect at the time, set forth the basic authority for separation of enlisted personnel.  Chapter 4 of that regulation provided, in pertinent part, for the separation of individuals at completion of required service (i.e., expiration term of service).

	a.  Propriety:	The applicant has not submitted an issue of propriety and the ADRB has not otherwise relied upon an issue of propriety to change the discharge.

	b.  Equity:	The parenthetical number(s) below correspond(s) to the issue number(s) on the DD Form 293, or in Part VI, Paragraph 1, above.

        (1)  The issue is rejected.  The Board carefully examined the applicant’s record of service during the period under review.  The Board noted the applicant’s contention however, changes to reentry eligibility (also known as the reenlistment) (RE) codes does not fall within the purview of this Board.  To obtain a change in an RE code, the applicant should provide supporting documentation to justify any change and submit the request to the Commander, US Army PERSCOM, ATTN:  TAPC-EPR-P, 2461 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia  22331-0450.  The applicant may also apply to the Army Board for Correction of Military Records regarding this matter.  An application for that Board is enclosed.  The Board, being convinced that the reason for discharge and the characterization of service were both proper and equitable, voted to deny relief.
