THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1.  Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2.  Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).


THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show award of the Presidential Unit Citation.

2.  The applicant states the award was approved and issued on 25 October 2012.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, from 
16 to 28 November 2010, while he was deployed to Afghanistan.  This award was never included on his DD Form 214.

3.  The applicant provides copies of Permanent Orders (PO) Number 299-16 and his DD Form 214.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant's military records show he enlisted in the Regular Army (RA) on 10 February 2009 and he held military occupational specialty 11B (infantryman).  

2.  He served in Afghanistan from 12 May 2010 through 14 April 2011.  

3.  Section IX (Assignment Information) of his Enlisted Record Brief shows he was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, from 10 February 2010 through 30 September 2011.

4.  His records contain and he provided a copy of PO Number 299-16, issued by the U.S. Army Human Resources Command on 25 October 2012, announcing award of the Presidential Unit Citation to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, for the period of service from 16 through 28 November 2010.

5.  He reenlisted in the RA on 15 January 2013.  

6.  He was discharged on 5 January 2015.  His DD Form 214 lists the:

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

PO awarded the applicant's unit, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, the Presidential Unit Citation during his period of service.  This award is not listed on his DD Form 214.
