		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE: 4 August 2015

		DOCKET NUMBER: AR20150000493

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE:

10. On or about 29 December 2014, new information was received from the applicant in regard to the decision of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20130012640, dated 17 April 2014.

11. The evidence submitted consists of:

a. A statement from the applicant asserting he was assigned to the
5th Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, and not to the 2nd Battalion, as indicated in the original Record of Proceedings (ROP).

   b. A letter from the 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment, dated 18 July 1968 recommending the applicant for promotion to specialist four.

   c. A DD Form 214 (Armed forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge) pertaining to the applicant.

ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

9. At the time of the decision of the ABCMR in Docket Number AR20130012640, dated 17 April 2014, it was the intent of the ABCMR to make the applicant’s record as administratively correct as it should properly have been at the time.

10. The ABCMR's decision in Docket Number AR20130012640 incorrectly changed the applicant’s last unit of assignment due to inconsistent entries made in his military records. Also, the decision document mistakenly substituted the Meritorious Unit Commendation for the Valorous Unit Award.

11. In view of the above, the applicant’s DD Form 214 should be corrected by:

* deleting the Meritorious Unit Commendation
* deleting his last duty assignment showing Company B, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division
* adding the Valorous Unit Award
* showing his last duty assignment as Company B, 5th Battalion,
60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division

BOARD VOTE:

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant amendment of the decision of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records set forth in Docket Number AR20130012640, dated 17 April 2014, by:

* deleting the Meritorious Unit Commendation
* deleting his last duty assignment showing Company B, 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division
* adding the Valorous Unit Award
* showing his last duty assignment as Company B, 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division
