BOARD DATE: 18 November 2014
DOCKET NUMBER: AR20140006617
THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:
1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).
2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests that her record be corrected to show award of the Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC).
2. The applicant states:
* the MUC was not placed on her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) during her final out-processing
* she has the orders which show she was assigned to the unit that received the MUC
* the award is in her Official Military Personnel File (OMPF). However, it was never added to her active duty Enlisted Record Brief
3. The applicant provided a copy of her DD Form 214 and two orders.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 15 June 2009.
2. She submitted and her OMPF contains:
a. Order Number 078-501, dated 19 March 2010, which shows she was ordered to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with duty with the 25th Signal Battalion on 11 April 2010.
b. Permanent Orders Number 119-011, dated 29 April 2013, which shows Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 25th Signal Battalion was awarded the MUC for exceptionally meritorious service during the period September 2010 to 30 September 2011.
3. On 11 January 2014, she was released from active duty after serving honorably for 4 years, 6 months, and 27 days. Her DD Form 214 does not show award of the MUC.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
The evidence shows the applicant was assigned to a unit that was awarded the MUC for accomplishments during her tenure. Therefore, the applicant's records should be corrected to show this unit award.
