		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE: 13 October 2011

		DOCKET NUMBER: AR20110005984

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests to add military occupational specialty (MOS) 18B2V (Special Forces Weapons Sergeant) to item 11 (Primary Specialty) of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty).

2. He states he completed the required training for MOS 18B; however, an administrative error occurred in which MOS 11B2V (Infantryman) was listed in item 11 of his DD Form 214.

3. He provides a copy of his DD Form 214.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant is currently serving as a sergeant/E-5 in the North Carolina Army National Guard (ARNG).

2. A DA Form 1059 (Service School Academic Evaluation Report) shows he attended training for MOS 18B from 8 October 2009 through 19 November 2010. He achieved course standards and was awarded the Special Forces Tab on the date of graduation.

3. On 23 December 2010, he was honorably released from active duty (REFRAD) upon completion of required active service in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Item 11 of his DD Form 214 contains the entry "11B2V INFANTRYMAN – 1 YRS 5 MOS//NOTHING FOLLOWS."

4. His record contains Washington ARNG Orders 031-917, dated 31 January 2011, that show he was awarded primary MOS (PMOS) 18B2V and that MOS 11B2V became his secondary MOS.

5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) states to enter the titles of all MOS's in which served for at least 1 year and to include the number of years and months served for each MOS.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1. The applicant requests to add MOS 18B2V to item 11 of his DD Form 214.

2. The evidence shows he successfully completed all the requirements for award of MOS 18B2V; however, the orders which awarded him this MOS were issued after his REFRAD. As a result, the PMOS 18B2V was not entered in item 11 of his DD Form 214.

3. Therefore, he is entitled to have his DD Form 214 corrected to add the entry "18B2V SPECIAL FORCES WEAPONS SERGEANT – 0 YRS 0 MOS" to item 11.

BOARD VOTE:

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

FORCES WEAPONS SERGEANT – 0 YRS 0 MOS//11B2V INFANTRYMAN – 1 YRS 5 MOS//NOTHING FOLLOWS."
