THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests, in two applications, correction of her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show her primary military occupational specialty (PMOS) and her completion of Basic Combat Training (BCT).
2. The applicant states she believes her DD Form 214 is in error because she was MOS qualified when she enlisted under the Army Civilian Acquired Skills Program (ACASP). Additionally, she completed BCT and it is not reflected under the military education section of her DD Form 214.
3. The applicant provides:
* A copy of her certificate for completion of BCT
* Copies of her enlistment contract regarding her enlistment under the ACASP
* Copies of her education transcripts
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army on 5 June 2008 for a period of 3 years under the ACASP as a metal worker, assignment to Korea, and a cash enlistment bonus. She was transferred to Fort Jackson, SC to undergo her BCT. She completed her BCT on 24 October 2008 and she remained at Fort Jackson to undergo processing under the Physical Disability Evaluation System (PDES).
2. On 18 March 2009 a Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) determined that the applicant was not fit to perform her duties due to chronic right foot pain and a left tibia stress fracture and recommended her discharge with severance pay with a 20 percent (%) disability rating percentage. The applicant concurred with the PEB's findings and recommendation and waived a formal hearing of her case.
3. On 3 April 2009 she was honorably discharged under the provisions of Army Regulation 635-40 (Physical Evaluation for Retention, Retirement, or Separation) due to disability, severance pay, non-combat related. She had served 9 months and 29 days of active service. She received $10,965.60 in severance pay benefits.
4. Her DD Form 214 issued at the time of her discharge reflects in block 11 (Primary Specialty) the entry None. Block 14 (Military Education) also reflects the entry None.
5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Personnel Separations - Separation Documents) prescribes the separation documents prepared for Soldiers upon retirement, discharge, or release from active military service or control of the Army. It establishes standardized policy for the preparation of the DD Form 214. It states that for:
a. block 11, from the Soldier's record, enter the titles of all MOSs served for at least 1 year and include for each MOS the number of years and months served. For time determination, 16 days or more count as a month. Do not count basic training and advanced individual training (AIT).
b. block 14, from the Soldier's record, list formal in-service (full-time attendance) training courses successfully completed during the period of service covered by the DD Form 214. Include title, length in weeks, and year completed. This information is to assist the Soldier in job placement and counseling; therefore, do not list training courses for combat skills.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. The applicants contentions and supporting documents have been noted and found to lack merit.
2. The applicant did not serve in a PMOS during her service and she did not serve in any MOS for a period of 1 year or more; therefore, she is not entitled to have a PMOS entered on her DD Form 214.
3. While the applicant did complete BCT, the applicable regulation provides that training courses for combat skills will not be entered on the DD Form 214. Therefore, her completion of BCT was properly omitted from her DD Form 214.
