The Board considered the following evidence:

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests that the World War II Victory Medal be removed
from his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active
Duty).
2. The applicant states that he is not old enough to have received this
medal.
3. The applicant provides a copy of his DD Form 214.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
2. The applicant was born on 18 November 1961. He was ordered to active
duty on 20 January 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served
in Iraq from 8 March 2004 through 4 February 2005 and was released from
active duty on 5 March 2005.
3. The applicant’s DD Form 214 shows the World War II Victory Medal as an
authorized award.
4. Army Regulation 600-8-22 (Military Awards) provides, in pertinent part,
for award of the World War II Victory Medal. It is awarded for service
between
7 December 1941 and 31 December 1946, both dates inclusive.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
The applicant did not serve a period of qualifying service for award of the
World War II Victory Medal. Therefore, it would be appropriate to remove
this award from his DD Form 214.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:
The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant
a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all
Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by
deleting the World War II Victory Medal from his DD Form 214.
