2. The applicant requests that his report of separation (DD Form 214) be corrected by deleting entries in item 14 (Military Education) which indicate that he completed the South Korean Airborne School, the Scout Commander Certification Course and the Light Leader Course.
3. The applicant states that at the time of separation he informed the clerk at the time that the information was not correct and should be deleted; however, the clerk was too busy at the time to do so. He goes on to state that while the information does not detract from his record, he believes that his records should accurately reflect the courses that he actually completed.
4. The applicant’s military records show that he was commissioned as a United States Army Reserve (USAR) second lieutenant on 15 July 1981 and entered active duty on 2 September 1981. He continued to serve until he was honorably released from active duty (REFRAD) in the rank of captain on 18 May 1990. He was transferred to a USAR Troop Program Unit in Madison, Wisconsin, where he is currently serving.
5. At the time of the applicant’s REFRAD, his DD Form 214 was prepared to show in block 14, that he completed the South Korean Airborne School, the Scout Commander Certification Course and the Light Leader Course. A review of his Official Military Personnel File fails to show that he ever attended any of those courses.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. The evidence of record clearly bears out the applicant’s contention that his DD Form 214, dated 18 May 1990, incorrectly reflects that he completed the three courses in question, when in fact he did not attend or complete the courses.
2. Accordingly, it would be in the interest of justice to delete those courses from his DD Form 214 at this time.
3. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION: That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by deleting from the DD Form 214 dated 18 May 1990, pertaining to the individual concerned, all references to his completion of the South Korean Airborne School, the Scout Commander Certification Course and the Light Leader Course.
