APPLICANT REQUESTS: Correction to his serial number.
APPLICANT STATES: That his serial number on his discharge document (WD AGO Form 53-55) is wrong and the 4th digit should show an “8”. He further states that he never noticed this before. He submits a copy of his Class B Pass from 1943 in support of his application.
EVIDENCE OF RECORD: The applicant's military records show:
He enlisted in the Regular Army on 28 November 1942.
Documentation submitted by the applicant shows that on 14 May 1943 he was given a Class B Pass, giving him permission to be absent from his organization from retreat to curfew.
He was honorably discharged on 19 November 1945.
All of his service records show the 4th digit of his serial number as a “6”. This includes his WD AGO Form 53-55, his separation physical, his enlistment record, his personal affairs statement, his service credit cards, his records folder and his Veterans Administration Form 3101, Request for Army Information, dated 17 January 1949.
DISCUSSION: Considering all the evidence, allegations, and information presented by the applicant, together with the evidence of record, applicable law and regulations, it is concluded:
1. In view of the circumstances in this case, the applicant is not entitled to correction of his serial number. He has not shown error, injustice, or inequity for the relief he now requests.
2. The Board notes his contention that his serial number is wrong because a Class B Pass from 1943 shows the 4th digit as an ”8”. However, throughout his service records the 4th digit is shown as a “6.”
3. The Board also notes that the Class B Pass dated 14 May 1943 was not available in his records and it would appear that his commander erroneously entered the 4th digit as an “8”.
4. In view of the foregoing, there is no basis for granting the applicant's request.
DETERMINATION: The applicant has failed to submit sufficient relevant evidence to demonstrate the existence of probable error or injustice.
