2. The applicant requests award of the Presidential Unit Citation (formerly known as the Distinguished Unit Citation until 3 November 1966).
3. The applicant states, in effect, that while serving during the Korean Conflict from 9 August 1950 to December 1951 his unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.
4. The applicant’s military records show that he enlisted on 24 January 1949 for a period of 3 years. He served as a tank crewman in Korea from 8 August 1950 until he was honorably discharged on 13 June 1951 to accept a commission in the Officer Reserve Corps as a second lieutenant. He was commissioned on
14 June 1951 and continued to serve on active duty in Korea. The applicant was honorably released from active duty on 17 November 1953 and transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve. He entered active duty again on 18 March 1954 in an enlisted status and remained on active duty through continuous reenlistments until he retired on 30 June 1969 in the rank of first sergeant.
5. The applicant’s DD Form 214 (Report of Separation from the Armed Forces of the United States) with an effective date of 13 June 1951 does not show the Distinguished Unit Citation as an authorized award.
6. Department of the Army Pamphlet 672-1 (Unit Citation and Campaign Participation Credit Register) lists the unit awards received by units serving in the Korean conflict. This document shows the unit, to which the applicant was assigned, was cited for award of the Distinguished Unit Citation for actions during the period 25-27 January 1951 by Department of the Army General Orders Number 49-51.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. While the applicant was assigned to Company D, 89th Medium Tank Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division, it was cited for the Distinguished Unit Citation during the Korean Conflict. Therefore, the applicant is entitled to correction of his DD Form 214 with an effective date of 13 June 1951 to show this unit citation.
2. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.

Therefore, in accordance with the Military Awards regulation, the applicant did not serve a period of qualifying service for award of the ACM and there is no basis for amending his record to show this award.
