APPLICANT REQUESTS: In effect, a $1,000.00 enlistment bonus.
APPLICANT STATES: That he is owed a $1,000.00 enlistment bonus.
In support of his request he submits an extract of his enlistment contract that reflects that he enlisted for a $2,000.00 cash enlistment bonus.
EVIDENCE OF RECORD: The applicant's military records show:
He enlisted in the Regular Army on 4 August 1998 for a period of four years and a $2,000.00 cash bonus.
His DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) indicates in item 18, Remarks, that he was paid an enlistment bonus of $2,000.00 on 8 December 1998. It further reflects that on 11 October 2000, he was separated in accordance with AR 635-200, Chapter 14 for misconduct.
The applicant submitted no documentation, such as pay vouchers, to support his request.
DISCUSSION: Considering all the evidence, allegations, and information presented by the applicant, together with the evidence of record, applicable law and regulations, it is concluded:
1. The applicant submitted an extract of his enlistment contract that indicated he enlisted for a $2,000.00 cash bonus. His DD Form 214 indicates that he received that cash enlistment bonus on 8 December 1998. The applicant provided no evidence, such as pay vouchers, to show that the entry is incorrect. The Board must conclude, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, that the applicant received his enlistment bonus.
2. In view of the foregoing, there is no basis for granting the applicant's request.
DETERMINATION: The applicant has failed to submit sufficient relevant evidence to demonstrate the existence of probable error or injustice.
