2. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 to reflect his rank and grade as Specialist Four, E-4; to show award of “airborne wings;” to show he completed airborne training; and to show he completed his high school GED. He states that he wants his DD Form 214 to be correct in all areas and not reflect only his mistakes.

3. The applicant’s military records show he enlisted in the Regular Army on 17 December 1968 for 3 years. He completed basic combat training and advanced individual training and was awarded military occupational specialty (MOS) 12B (Combat Engineer). He completed basic airborne training on 6 June 1969 and was awarded the Parachute Badge. He arrived in Vietnam 27 August 1970. He was reduced to Private First Class for misconduct on 3 August 1971. He departed Vietnam on 26 August 1971.

4. On 13 December 1971, the applicant was relieved from active duty under the provisions of Army Regulation 635-200 in pay grade E-3. His MOS was erroneously entered as 12B20.

5. There is no evidence in the applicant’s records to show he completed his high school GED.

CONCLUSIONS:

1. The applicant completed basic airborne training and was awarded the Parachute Badge.

2. The applicant was reduced to Private First Class less than one month prior to departing Vietnam and only four months prior to separating. There is no evidence in the records that he was promoted back to Specialist Four and he has not supplied any such evidence.

3. There is no evidence in the records that the applicant completed his high school GED and he has not supplied any such evidence.

4. In view of the foregoing, it would be proper and just to correct the applicant’s records as recommended below.

RECOMMENDATION:

1. That block 24 of the applicant’s DD Form 214 be corrected to show award of the Parachute Badge and block 25 to show completion of Basic Airborne Training.
2. That so much of the application as is in excess of the foregoing be denied.
