 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS

AIR FORCE BOARD FOR CORRECTION OF MILITARY RECORDS

IN THE MATTER OF: DOCKET NUMBER: BC-2011-04175

 COUNSEL: NONE

 HEARING DESIRED: NO

________________________________________________________________

APPLICANT REQUESTS THAT:

His fitness assessment (FA) score recorded on 6 October 2011 be
removed from the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS).

________________________________________________________________

APPLICANT CONTENDS THAT:

During the sit-ups portion of his FA he unexpectedly experienced
acid reflux which restricted his breathing and prohibited him
from accomplishing the required amount of sit-ups.

He is currently on a medical profile for this condition which
had already rendered him exempt from the run/walk portion of the
FA.

He sought medical attention immediately after the test. During
the evaluation at flight medicine, the doctor determined to add
sit-ups to his physical profile restrictions. He took the
profile to the Fitness Assessment Cell to invalidate his test
but the test was already updated prior to the 5 days allotted to
provide supporting documents.

In support of his request, the applicant provides a copy of his
AF Form 469, Duty Limiting Report and AF Form 108, Physical
Fitness Education and Intervention Processing.

The applicant’s complete submission, with attachments, is at
Exhibit A.

AIR FORCE EVALUATION:

HQ AFPC/DPSIM recommends the sit-up portion of the fitness
assessment dated 6 October 2011 be updated to reflect “exempt”
in the Air Force Fitness Management System (AFFMS), since he
sought immediate medical attention following the test and his
existing profile was updated to reflect he was not medically
cleared for sit-ups.

The complete HQ AFPC/DPSIM evaluation is at Exhibit B.

APPLICANT'S REVIEW OF AIR FORCE EVALUATION:

A copy of the Air Force evaluation was forwarded to the
applicant on 9 December 2011 for review and comment within
30 days. As of this date, no response has been received by this
office.

________________________________________________________________

THE BOARD CONCLUDES THAT:

1. The applicant has exhausted all remedies provided by
existing law or regulations.

2. The application was timely filed.

3. Sufficient relevant evidence has been presented to
demonstrate the existence of error or injustice to warrant
partial relief. We took notice of the applicant's complete
submission in judging the merits of the case; however, we agree
with the opinion and recommendation of the Air Force office of
primary responsibility that correction of the sit-up portion of
the fitness assessment dated 6 October 2011 reflect “exempt” in
the Air Force Fitness Management System. Accordingly, we
recommend that his records be corrected to the extent indicated
below.

________________________________________________________________

THE BOARD RECOMMENDS THAT:

The pertinent military records of the Department of the Air
Force relating to APPLICANT be corrected to show the sit-up
portion of the fitness assessment dated 6 October 2011 be
amended to reflect “exempt” in the Air Force Fitness Management
System.
