Under the authority of Section 1552, Title 10, United States
Code and Air Force Instruction 36-2603, and having assured
compliance with the provisions of the above regulation, the
decision of the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records
is announced, and it is directed that:

MEMORANDUM OF CONSIDERATION OF APPLICATION BEFORE THE AFBCMR
SUBJECT :
Having carefully reviewed this application, we agree with the
recommendation of the Air Force office of primary responsibility
and adopt the rationale expressed as the basis for our decision
that the applicant has been the victim of either an error or an
injustice. Therefore, under the authority delegated in AFI 3 6 -
2603, the applicant's records will be corrected as set forth in
the accompanying Memorandum for the Chief of Staff signed by the
Executive Director of the Board or his designee.

SUBJECT: Application for Correction of Military Records
The applicant is requesting his 2 Feb 98 reenlistment be changed to 3 Feb 98. This will
allow him to collect a Zone A Selective Reenlistment Bonus (SRB) in the pay grade of E-4.
The applicant was erroneously advised to reenlist on 2 Feb 98 in order to receive an SRB
in the pay grade of E-4. The SREI is paid based on the date of discharge, as specified in DoD Pay
Manual, paragraph 10912. In this case, the applicant’s discharge date was 1 Feb 98, one day
short of obtaining the E-4 grade. As such, we recommend the applicant’s reenlistment on 2 Feb
98 be voided. A constructive reenlistment should be granted effective 3 Feb 98 for six years.
The AF Form 901, Reenlistment Eligibility Amex to DD Form 4, Section III(D) should reflect
an SRB Zone A, Mult 3, payable for five years and zero months. The applicant is not entitled to
the full six years due to obligated service he had based on st separation date of 1 Feb 99.
