		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE: 21 April 2015

		DOCKET NUMBER: AR20140015443

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his request for correction of his records to show he served at Fort Knox, KY.

2. The applicant states he was injured when he served at Fort Knox, KY.

3. The applicant provides two unit photographs with the depiction "4TH CO UNIVERSAL MILITARY TRAINING EXP. UNIT FORT KNOX, KY MAR, 1947." A handwritten arrow with the notation "Me" is included.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20130021710, dated 24 July 2014.

2. As new evidence, the applicant provides two unit photographs that were not previously considered by the Board.

3. The applicant’s military records are not available for review. A fire destroyed approximately 18 million service members’ records at the National Personnel Records Center in 1973. It is believed that the applicant’s records were lost or destroyed in that fire. However, there were sufficient records remaining that were submitted by the applicant to conduct a fair and impartial review of this case.
4. A review of all of the available records to include all of the records provided by the applicant shows he enlisted in the Regular Army (RA) on 6 January 1947 and was honorably discharged on 12 November 1947.

5. The applicant reenlisted in the RA on 13 November 1947 and he was honorably discharged on 24 June 1949.

6. The available evidence does not show that he ever served at Fort Knox, KY.

7. The applicant provides two unit photographs with the depiction "4TH CO UNIVERSAL MILITARY TRAINING EXP. UNIT FORT KNOX, KY MAR, 1947." A handwritten arrow with the notation "Me" is included; however, there is no way to identify this applicant in this photograph.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

The applicant's new evidence was reviewed; however, without orders or other evidence to substantiate that he actually served at Fort Knox, KY, it is insufficient as a basis for granting his requested relief.

BOARD VOTE:

________ ________ ________ GRANT FULL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT PARTIAL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT FORMAL HEARING

___x____ ____x____ ___x____ DENY APPLICATION

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The evidence presented does not demonstrate the existence of a probable error or injustice. Therefore, the Board determined that the overall merits of this case are insufficient as a basis to amend the decision of the ABCMR set forth in Docket Number AR20130021710, dated 24 July 2014.
