		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE: 23 September 2014

		DOCKET NUMBER: AR20140001968

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) by amending item 12a (Date Entered AD (active duty) This Period) to show 1 March 2013.

2. He states the incorrect date was transferred from a 2012 DD Form 214 issued by the same command.

3. The applicant provides a DD Form 214 for the period ending 28 June 2013 and two sets of orders.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant provided AHRC-PLM-S Orders A-12-222096, dated
18 December 2012, that show he was ordered to AD for operational support. The report date is listed as 1 March 2013.

2. His DD Form 214 for the period ending 28 June 2013 shows in item 12a he entered AD on 17 March 2012 and in item 12c (Net Active Service This Period) a total of 3 months and 28 days.

3. The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) confirms he received AD pay from 1 March 2013 through 28 June 2013.

4. A query of his personnel file in the Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS) also confirms he received AD points for the period beginning 1 March 2013 through 28 June 2013.

5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) at the time prescribed the separation documents which are prepared for individuals upon retirement, discharge, or release from active military service or control of the Army. Paragraph 2-4 provides instructions for the completion of items that appear on the DD Form 214. Instructions for the completion of item 12 (Record of Service) are as follows:

	a. Item 12a - Enter the beginning date of the continuous period of AD for issuance of this DD Form 214, for which a DD Form 214 was not previously issued.

	b. Item 12c - Amount of service this period is computed by subtracting item 12a from 12b.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

DFAS and iPERMS confirm his period of AD for the DD Form 214 in question began on 1 March 2013 and ended 28 June 2013 for a total of 3 months and
28 days (correctly shown in item 12c). He is therefore entitled to correction of item 12a to show "2013 03 01."
