THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests correction of the date of birth (DOB) shown on his DD Form 214 (Report of Transfer or Discharge).
2. The applicant states he was born in 1948.
3. The applicant provides copies of his birth certificate and DD Form 214.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant was inducted on 19 January 1966. His DD Form 47 (Record of Induction) and DD Form 398 (Statement of Personal History) both show his DOB as 14 January 1948.
2. His 9 October 1968 DD Form 214 shows his DOB as 14 January 1946.
3. The birth certificate that he submits shows his DOB as 16 January 1948.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
Given that the information provided at the time of his induction matches his birth certificate, his DD Form 214 should be corrected.
