1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).
2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests that her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) be corrected to show her correct date of entry onto active duty.
2. The applicant states her DD Form 214 shows the date she entered the Army National Guard (ARNG) not the date she entered active duty. She needs this correction to collect Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits (VA).
3. The applicant provides copies of a DD Form 4/1 (Enlistment/Reenlistment Document), U.S. Army Maneuver Support Center Orders 112-576, a Geneva Convention Identification Card, and her DD Form 214,
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. Her 25 January 2002 DD Form 4 (Enlistment/Reenlistment Agreement - Army National Guard) shows the applicant enlisted in the ARNG for 8 years as a non-prior service member.
2. She was discharged from the ARNG, effective 19 September 2007, and assigned to the U.S. Army Reserve Control Group (Annual Training).
3. Her NGB 22 (Report of Separation and Record of Service) shows service from 25 January 2002 through 19 September 2007 (5 years, 7 months, and 25 days) with no prior active or inactive service.
4. An 8 April 2008 DD Form 4/1 shows the applicant enlisted in the Regular Army for 3 year and 2 weeks, all of which was to be served on active duty.
5. Her Enlisted Record Brief shows the following:
* a Basic Active Service Date of 18 November 2007
* a Pay Entry Base Date of 25 January 2002
* assignment as a trainee commencing on 9 April 2008
6. The DD Form 214 shows the following:
* date entered active duty this period, 25 January 2002
* separation date of 14 June 2011
* net service this period, 3 years, 2 months, 7 days
* prior active service, 4 months and 17 days
* prior inactive service, 5 years, 3 months, 8 days
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. The applicant served in the ARNG from 25 January 2002 through 19 September 2007, in the USAR from 20 September 2007 through 7 April 2008, and on active duty in the Regular Army from 8 April 2008 through 14 June 2011.
2. The 14 June 2011 DD Form 214 incorrectly shows her date of enlistment in the Regular Army and entry onto active duty as the date of her enlistment in the ARNG, 25 January 2002. It is appropriate to correct this error to show a date of entry on the DD Form 214 of 8 April 2008
