THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests that his Department of Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award and related documents be placed in his Official Military Personnel File (OMPF).

2. The applicant states that these documents are not currently a part of his OMPF.

3. The applicant provides the Department of Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award dated 25 April 2007, a certificate of service dated 27 April 2007, and a letter dated 25 April 2007.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant's military records show that he entered active duty as a commissioned officer on 15 March 1982 with 3 years and 16 days of prior active service and 5 years, 9 months, and 5 days of prior inactive service.

2. He was promoted to major and was honorably released from active duty on 30 April 1999 and placed on the Retired List the following day for years of service.

3. Army Regulation 600–8–104, Military Personnel Information Management / Records, Table 2-1, describes what forms and documents are to be filed in the OMPF and where they are to be filed. These forms and documents are all documents which pertain to a Soldier's military career.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1. The applicant was placed on the Retired List on 1 May 1999, the documents he has requested to be entered in his OMPF are dated in 2007, and those documents pertain to his status as a Civil Service employee working for the Department of the Air Force.

2. Since documents filed in a Soldier's OMPF are limited to those which relate to the Soldier's military career, the documents provided by the applicant are not authorized to be entered in his OMPF.

BOARD VOTE:

________ ________ ________ GRANT PARTIAL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT FORMAL HEARING

__x_____ __x_____ ___x____ DENY APPLICATION

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The evidence presented does not demonstrate the existence of a probable error or injustice. Therefore, the Board determined that the overall merits of this case are insufficient as a basis for correction of the records of the individual concerned.
