DOCKET NUMBER: AR20090001538
THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:
1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his request to correct his DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge) for the period ending 16 January 1970 to reflect In item 24 (Decorations, Medals, Badges, Commendations, Citations and Campaign Ribbons Awarded or Authorized) Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge, not "EXP/QUAL/BAD," and "Good Conduct Medal," not "GOOD CON BAD."
2. The applicant states, in effect, that he was unaware that he had not provided orders for those awards when he submitted his original application.
3. The applicant provides copies of orders awarding him the Expert Marksmanship Badge with rifle bar and the Good Conduct Medal.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR2008001160, dated 2 December 2008.
2. The applicant's DD Form 214 dated 16 January 1970 currently reflects in item 24, "EXP/QUAL BAD" and "Good CON BAD."
3. The orders provided by the applicant reflect that the applicant was awarded the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar on 27 February 1968 and he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal on 9 January 1970.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. The applicant has provided orders to document the change he is requesting in regards to correcting the marksmanship qualification badge and Good Conduct Medal entries on his DD Form 214.
2. Accordingly, it would be appropriate at this time to correct his DD Form 214 to show he was awarded the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar in lieu of the "EXP/QUAL BAD" and the Good Conduct Medal in lieu of the "Good CON BAD."
