THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests, in effect, reconsideration of an earlier appeal that his record be corrected to show his Army Air Force (AAF) service.
2. The applicant states, in effect, that he is submitting new evidence that shows why he should have his service corrected. He enlisted in the AAF after completing basic training at San Antonio, Texas. He was selected to attend clerk school at Lowery Air Force Base (AFB), Denver, Colorado and graduated.
3. The applicant was assigned to Lockbourne AFB, Columbus, Ohio and served on the personnel staff. While at Lockbourne AFB he had the opportunity of working with two future prominent generals. Towards the end of his enlistment he was later transferred to Fort Lee, Virginia and remained there until discharged from the military.
4. The applicant further states "I am, therefore enclosing the additional information showing that I was at Lockbourne Air Force Base the majority of my enlistment and not in the U.S. Army until my last six months of my enlistment at Camp Lee, Va. and Honorably discharged on 3/7/49."
5. The applicant provides a WD AGO Form 8 (Soldier's Permanent Pass-Class), dated 11 March 1948; a Lockbourne Air Force Base Mess Pass, dated 15 May 1948; an Air Force Identification Tag; seven photographs of the applicant by himself and with associates; an Army Air Force Aid Society Card, dated July 1948; an Identification Card of the applicant's future wife; a photograph of a former Air Force Lieutenant and his wife; an obituary of a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel; a five-page information sheet on the Tuskegee Air Men; and a one-page insert concerning the passing of a retired Air Force Major.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20060010150, on 13 February 2007.
2. The applicant's evidence is new documentation that will be considered by the Board.
3. The applicant's WD AGO Form 53 (Enlisted Record and Report of Separation Honorable Discharge) with the ending period 7 March 1949 shows his military history began with his enlistment on 7 March 1946.
4. The applicant provides a WD AGO Form 8 (Soldier's Permanent Pass-Class), dated 11 March 1948, that shows he was assigned to the 332nd Base Service Squadron Fighter (SE), 332nd Air Base Group, Lockbourne AFB, Ohio.
5. The applicant provided seven photographs of himself in an unidentifiable uniform and in civilian clothing with fellow associates while assigned to Lockbourne AFB, Ohio.
6. The applicant provided an AF Identification Badge that has his name and AF service number on it.
7. The applicant provided a Lockbourne AFB Mess Pass and an AAF Aid Society Card that show his name on both cards.
8. On 7 March 1949, the applicant was honorably discharged from the Army.
9. War Department Technical Manual 12-235 (Enlisted Personnel Discharge and Release from Active Duty) contains the policy on the preparation of separation documents at the time of the applicant's separation. The WD AGO Form 53 was meant to be a brief record of active service at the time of release from active duty, retirement, or discharge.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. The new evidence provided by the applicant shows that he served at Lockbourne AFB, Ohio. The new evidence does not prove, but may indicate, that he very well did enlist in and serve in the AAF.
2. However, the applicant acknowledged that the last six months of his enlistment were served in the Army. The WD AGO Form 53 was only meant to be a brief record of active service at the time of release from active duty, retirement, or discharge; at which time the applicant was in the Army.
3. It is unfortunate that the applicants records are no longer available, presumably lost in the 1973 fire at the National Personnel Records Center. His service records would have documented any AAF service he had. Regrettably, however, there appears to be no error on his WD AGO Form 53 concerning his Army service.

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:
The evidence presented does not demonstrate the existence of a probable error or injustice. Therefore, the Board determined that the overall merits of this case are insufficient as a basis to amend the decision of the ABCMR set forth in Docket Number AR200600010150, dated 13 February 2007.
