The Board considered the following evidence:
Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.
Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion, if any).
THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests correction of his Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214) to show his foreign service.
2. The applicant states that his service in Afghanistan and Iraq is not reflected on his DD Form 214.
3. The applicant provides a copy of his DD Form 214.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. On 4 June 2002, the applicant enlisted in the Regular Army for 3 years. He completed his initial training and was awarded military occupational specialty 11C1P (Indirect Fire Infantryman, Airborne).
2. Defense Finance and Accounting Service records show that the applicant served in overseas areas of eminent danger during the periods from 1 January to 30 June 2003; 1 to 31 December 2003; and from 1 January to 30 April 2004; for a total of 11 months and 1 day.
3. The applicants available personnel records do not show where he performed his overseas service.
4. On 3 June 2005, the applicant was honorably released from active duty and transferred to the United States Army Reserve Control Group (Reinforcement). He had attained the rank of specialist, pay grade E4, and had completed 3 years of creditable active service.
5. Item 12f (Foreign Service) of the applicants DD Form 214 indicates that he did not serve anytime overseas.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. While the evidence of record does not show the exact locations of the applicant's overseas service, it does show that he served a total of 11 months and 1 day of overseas service in an area or areas of eminent danger.
2. Therefore, his records should be corrected to show the length of time he served overseas.
