THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant requests, in effect, that his enlistment contract be corrected to show that the term of service for which he enlisted be changed from 8 years and 00 weeks to 3 years and 00 weeks.
2. The applicant states, in effect, that his enlistment contract erroneously shows that he enlisted in the Army for 8 years and 00 weeks.
3. The applicant provides, in support of his application, a Memorandum For Record (MFR), Subject: Correction of Enlistment Term, from the Headquarters, United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) Liaison, dated 12 February 2004; a copy of his DD Form 4/3, Enlistment/Reenlistment Document, dated 10 February 2004; a copy of his service school reservation notification, dated 24 September 2003; and a record of military processing, dated 10 February 2004.
CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:
1. The applicant's DD Form 4/3, Section F (Discharge from Delayed Entry/Enlistment Programs) shows in Item 20a that he enlisted in the US Army for 8 years and 00 weeks on 10 February 2004.
2. The applicant's service school reservation notification shows that he enlisted for 3 years and 00 weeks.
3. The MFR from USAREC dated 12 February 2004, confirms that the DD Form 4/3 is incorrect and the term of his enlistment should be corrected to reflect his term of enlistment as 3 years and 00 weeks.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:
1. Evidence of record shows that an error was made during the preparation of the applicant’s enlistment contract, which resulted in an incorrect term of service being shown on his DD Form 4/3.
2. The applicant's DD Form 4/3 erroneously shows his term of enlistment as 8 years and 00 weeks. The MFR from USAREC dated 12 February 2004, confirms that the DD Form 4/3 is incorrect and should be corrected to reflect his term of enlistment as 3 years and 00 weeks.
