                            RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS

      IN THE CASE OF:

      BOARD DATE: 18 August 2005
      DOCKET NUMBER: AR20040011060

I certify that hereinafter is recorded the true and complete record
of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in
the case of the above-named individual.

| |Mr. Carl W. S. Chun | |Director |
| |Mr. Ronald DeNoia | |Analyst |

The following members, a quorum, were present:

| |Mr. James E. Vick | |Chairperson |
| |Mr. Ronald J. Weaver | |Member |
| |Mr. Robert Rogers | |Member |

The Board considered the following evidence:

Exhibit A - Application for correction of military records.

Exhibit B - Military Personnel Records (including advisory opinion,
if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests that the award of the Bronze Star Medal be
removed from his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from
Active Duty).

2. The applicant states that he did not receive a Bronze Star Medal and it
is a typographical error.

3. The applicant provides a DD Form 214 with a separation date of 14
January 2004.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant entered active duty on 21 February 2003 and was released
from active duty on 14 January 2004. He had 6 years, 8 months, and 9 days
of active service and 17 years, 3 months, and 19 days of prior inactive
service. The applicant served as a Petroleum Supply Specialist, Motor
Transport Operator and Special Electronic Devices Repairer during his
career.

2. A review of the applicant's official military personnel file (OMPF), to
include all awards, DA Form 2-1 (Personnel Qualification Record), prior DD
Forms 214 and all other documentation do not show that the applicant was
awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

In view of the lack of evidence to show that the applicant was awarded the
Bronze Star Medal and his admission that it was not awarded to him, it is
appropriate to delete this award from the applicant's record. Therefore,
the Bronze Star Medal should be removed from the applicant's records, as
requested.

BOARD VOTE:

__jev___ __rjw___ __rr____ GRANT FULL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT PARTIAL RELIEF

________ ________ ________ GRANT FORMAL HEARING

________ ________ ________ DENY APPLICATION

BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION:

The Board determined that the evidence presented was sufficient to warrant
a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all
Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by
deleting the award of the Bronze Star Medal.
