2. The applicant requests, in effect, that award of a bronze service star be added to his separation document and that it reflect all medals awarded to him during his military service.
3. The applicant states, in effect, that the award of the bronze service star was made on 22 August 1945 in General Orders Number 128, Headquarters, Armed Forces, Pacific.
4. In support of his application, the applicant submitted a copy of his WD AGO Form 53-55, Enlisted Record and Report of Separation - Honorable Discharge, with a date of separation of 25 November 1946, and a copy of four pages from his service record.
5. The applicant's military records were lost or destroyed in the National Personnel Records Center fire of 1973. Information herein was obtained from alternate sources.
6. Records available to the Board show he was inducted into the Army of the United States and entered on active duty on 4 January 1945. The applicant’s WD AGO Form 53-55 shows that he served 1 year, 6 months, and 25 days active Federal service of which 1 year, 3 months, and 27 days were spent in the Western Pacific Theater of Operations (WPTO). He was honorably discharged in the grade of Technician 5th Grade under the provisions of Army Regulation 615-365, for the convenience of the government at demobilization on 25 November 1946.
7. Block 32 (Battles and Campaigns) of the applicant's WD AGO Form 53-55, shows that the applicant participated in the Luzon Campaign. Block 55 (Remarks) shows he was issued the Lapel Button [properly known as the Honorable Service/Discharge Emblem].

9. On one of the copied pages from his service record, another annotation is found which reads as follows: "Atzd Btl Star Luzon Campaign per GO# 128 Hq AFPAC dtd 22 Aug 45."
10. Army Regulation 600-8-22, in pertinent part, authorizes award of a bronze service star, based on qualifying service, for each campaign listed in its
Appendix B and states that authorized bronze service stars will be worn on the appropriate service medal, in this case, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. The Board considered the applicant's contention that he is entitled to award of a bronze service star and finds that the contention has merit.
2. The applicant participated in one campaign during World War II, the campaign on Luzon, the Philippines. Based on this qualifying service, he is entitled to award of one bronze service star to be affixed to his already-awarded Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
3. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION:
That all Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by awarding the applicant one bronze service star to be affixed to his already awarded Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
