2. The applicant requests that his enlistment contract be corrected to show he enlisted for 3 years and 00 weeks.
3. The applicant states that he initially enlisted for 6 years but later changed his training option to a military occupational specialty (MOS) that required only a 3 year enlistment.
4. The applicant’s Statement for Enlistment, DA Form 3286-64, and his Statement of Understanding, DA Form 3286-66, show that he was enlisting for training in MOS 63H (Track Vehicle Repairer) for 3 years and 00 weeks. His Enlistment/Reenlistment Contract, DD Form 4/3, item 20a erroneously shows he enlisted in the Regular Army on 17 August 2000 for 6 years and 00 weeks.
5. In the processing of this case, an advisory opinion was obtained from the Retention Management Division, U. S. Total Army Personnel Command. That office recommended approval of the applicant’s request. A copy of the advisory opinion was provided to the applicant for comment. He concurred in the opinion.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. There is an administrative error on the applicant’s DD Form 4/3. The evidence of record shows he enlisted on 17 August 2000 for 3 years and 00 weeks, not 6 years and 00 weeks.
2. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the applicant’s DD Form 4/3 dated 17 August 2000, item 20a be corrected to show he enlisted for 3 years and 00 weeks.
