2. The applicant requests, in effect, that item 12a (Record of Service/Date Entered Active Duty (AD) This Period) of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) be corrected to show that he entered active duty on “13 August 1985” instead of “13 August 1986.”
3. The applicant states that his date of entry is incorrect on his DD Form 214.
In support of his application he submits a copy of his DD Form 214 and two copies of reassignment orders.
4. The applicant’s military records show he enlisted on 13 August 1985 as a motor transport operator for a period of 3 years. He continued to serve until he was honorably discharged on 12 May 1988 under the provisions of Army Regulation 635-200, chapter 16-8, due to reduction in authorized strength.
He had served 2 years and 9 months of creditable service.
5. The applicant’s records contain a copy of DD Form 4 (Enlistment/Reenlistment Document) which shows that the applicant enlisted on 13 August 1985.
6. The applicant provided a copy of Headquarters, US Army Training Center and Fort Leonard Wood Orders 322-220, dated 18 November 1985, which shows that the applicant was reassigned to the 21st Adjutant General Replacement Detachment at Fort Hood, Texas.
7. The applicant provided a copy of Headquarters, III Corps and Fort Hood Orders 245-20, dated 18 December 1985, which shows that the applicant was reassigned to Company B, 4th Main Support Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas.
8. Item 12c (Record of Service/Net Active Service this Period) of his DD Form 214 shows the entry “01 09 00” which is incorrect.
CONCLUSIONS:
1. The evidence of record clearly shows that the applicant enlisted on 13 August 1985. Therefore, he is entitled to correction of item 12a (Record of Service/Date Entered AD This Period) of his DD Form 214 to show the entry “85 08 13” instead of the entry “86 08 13.”
2. The Board notes that the applicant completed 2 years and 9 months of creditable service and that item 12c (Record of Service/Net Active Service This Period) of his DD Form 214 shows the entry “01 09 00” which is incorrect.
Therefore, he is entitled to correction of item 12c (Record of Service/Net Active Service This Period) of his DD Form 214 to show the entry “02 09 00” instead of the entry “01 09 00.”
3. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below.
RECOMMENDATION:
That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case for the individual concerned be corrected:
a. by showing in item 12a (Record of Service/Date Entered AD This Period) the entry “85 08 13”; and
b. by showing in item 12c (Record of Service/Net Active Service This Period) of his DD Form 214 the entry “02 09 00.”
