2. The applicant requests award of the Bronze Star Medal (BSM).

3. With the exception of a copy of the applicant’s final Army payment voucher there are no records available to the Board. However, the payment voucher notes he was receiving combat infantryman pay at the time of his separation from active duty in April 1946. Receipt of such pay confirms he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) during WWII.

4. Army Regulation 600-8-22 provides for award of the BSM as a conversion award to WWII holders of the CIB.

CONCLUSIONS :

1. The evidence confirms the applicant was awarded the CIB during World War II and as such is entitled to the BSM as a conversion award.

2. In view of the foregoing, it would be appropriate to correct the applicant’s records as recommended below.

RECOMMENDATION :

That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by awarding the individual concerned the Bronze Star Medal as a conversion award.

BOARD VOTE :

GRANT AS STATED IN RECOMMENDATION
