		IN THE CASE OF:

		BOARD DATE:  22 March 2012

		DOCKET NUMBER:  AR20110019596

THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).

THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his previous application to add the Army Commendation Medal (ARCOM) to his DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge).

2. He states U.S. Army Vietnam General Orders (GO) Number 4531, dated 6 September 1967, awarded him the ARCOM.

3.  He provides copies of:

* GO Number 4531
* ARCOM Citation
* transmittal letter
* extract of Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) Docket Number AR20110002211

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the ABCMR in Docket Number AR20110002211 on 24 August 2011.

2. The applicant has provided new evidence in the form of GO Number 4531 which will be considered by the Board.

3. He was inducted into the Army of the United States on 17 September 1965. After completion of training, he served in military occupational specialty 71G (Medical Records Specialist).

4. His DA Form 20 (Enlisted Qualification Record) shows he served in Vietnam from September 1966 through September 1967.

5. GO Number 4531 awarded the applicant the ARCOM for meritorious service in Vietnam from November 1966 to September 1967.

6. He was honorably released from active duty on 6 September 1967. His DD Form 214 does not show the ARCOM.

7. On 9 November 2011, he was issued a DD Form 215 (Correction to DD Form 214) which does not include the ARCOM.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

GO Number 4531 awarded him the ARCOM. As such, it would be appropriate to amend his DD Form 214 to add this award.
