IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 11 June 2015 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20150008102 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests the removal of Permanent Orders (PO) 324-001, dated 19 November 2012, and PO 324-001, dated 26 November 2012, from his official military personnel file (OMPF). 2. The applicant stated there were three attempts to award him the Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award) and three orders were published. The PO dated 19 and 26 November 2012 contained errors. The sole correct copy of the orders is PO 324-001, dated 10 December 2012. The errors prevent the streamlining of the senior noncommissioned officer (NCO) selection board files and makes him look incompetent as an NCO even though he was not the one who submitted the orders to his OMPF. 3. The applicant provides an email, dated 10 April 2015. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant is a Regular Army Soldier serving in the rank/grade of staff sergeant/E-6. 2. His record contains: * PO 355-07, dated 21 December 2006, awarding him the Army Good Conduct Medal (1st Award) * PO 363-003, dated 16 January 2010, awarding him the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award) 3. His record also contains the following PO issued by Headquarters, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC: * PO 324-001, dated 19 November 2012, awarding him the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award) for the period "40169 to 41264" * PO 324-001, dated 26 November 2012, awarding him the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award) for the period 22 December 2009 to 21 December 2012 * PO 324-001, dated 10 December 2012, awarding him the Army Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award) for the period 22 December 2009 to 21 December 2012 4. Army Regulation 600-8-22 (Military Awards) states only one decoration will be awarded to an individual for the same act, achievement, or period of meritorious service. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of record confirms three versions of PO 324-001 were published awarding the applicant the Army Good Conduct Medal. It is apparent that two of these PO were published in error as they both awarded him the second award of the Army Good Conduct Medal when his OMPF already contained PO 363-003 awarding him the second award of the Army Good Conduct Medal. Therefore, it would appropriate to remove both PO 324-001, dated 19 November 2012 and PO 324-001, dated 26 November 2012, from the performance folder of his OMPF. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by removing from his OMPF: * Permanent Orders 324-001, dated 19 November 2012 * Permanent Orders 324-001, dated 26 November 2012 ___________X___________ CHAIRPERSON I certify that herein is recorded the true and complete record of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in this case.
